Reuters reported that the <strong>KOSPI<\/strong> fell <strong>4.3%<\/strong> on March 31 and ended the month down nearly <strong>19%<\/strong>, which made it the market\u2019s worst monthly drop since the 2008 global financial crisis. At the same time, the Korean won weakened by about <strong>1%<\/strong>, falling below <strong>1,500 per U.S. dollar<\/strong> and touching levels not seen since the late 1990s Asian financial crisis and the 2009 global crisis. The war in the Middle East pushed oil prices higher and made investors nervous about global growth.
