The <strong>Samsung Electronics Co Union<\/strong>, or <strong>SECU<\/strong>, represents about <strong>13,000 workers<\/strong>, mostly from Samsung\u2019s smartphone, TV, and home appliance divisions. According to Reuters, SECU plans to ask a South Korean court to suspend the implementation of a pay deal that mainly benefits employees in Samsung\u2019s chip division. (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/world-at-work\/minority-union-samsung-electronics-challenge-pay-deal-court-2026-05-29\/\">Reuters<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dispute started after two other unions, including Samsung\u2019s biggest union, approved the agreement. The deal was important because it helped Samsung avoid a planned <strong>18-day strike<\/strong> by <strong>48,000 workers<\/strong>. That strike could have disrupted Samsung\u2019s operations and caused problems for South Korea\u2019s economy, since Samsung is one of the country\u2019s most important companies. That difference is at the heart of the conflict. After the vote passed, SECU said it would revise its legal documents and ask the court to suspend the deal\u2019s implementation. The union said it would fight for a \u201crational alternative\u201d for workers in the <strong>Device Experience<\/strong>, or <strong>DX<\/strong>, division. This division includes Samsung\u2019s consumer-facing businesses, such as TVs and household appliances. (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.yna.co.kr\/view\/AEN20260526007600320\">Yonhap News Agency<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI Profits Create a Workplace Divide<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This story is bigger than one company bonus plan. It shows how the AI boom is changing the workplace. Some workers are close to the most profitable parts of the AI supply chain, such as memory chips.
