Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Finance said exports jumped <strong>51.7% from a year earlier<\/strong> to <strong>$78.48 billion<\/strong>. Analysts had expected export growth of about <strong>37.9%<\/strong>, so the result was a major surprise. The main reason was strong global demand for <strong>AI chips, cloud services, servers, and advanced technology products<\/strong>. Taipei Times also reported that information and communications technology products and audiovisual products reached <strong>$34.84 billion<\/strong>, while electronic components, mainly chips, reached <strong>$26.84 billion<\/strong>. Together, these areas made up almost <strong>80%<\/strong> of Taiwan\u2019s exports in May. That is a big deal. Taipei Times also reported that exports to <strong>ASEAN<\/strong> jumped <strong>90.8%<\/strong>, helped by strong demand for ICT products and electronic components. This shows how widely AI-related demand is spreading across global supply chains. Companies are not just buying finished products. They are buying parts, machines, chips, servers, and production inputs that keep the whole AI machine running. And yes, that machine is hungry. Very hungry.
