Volcano Erupts, Ash Goes High
Where is the volcano?
A volcano in Indonesia has erupted. The eruption made headlines because the Indonesia volcano cancels Bali flights, affecting travel from many nearby countries. The name of this volcano is Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki. It is on an island far from Bali, but its eruption caused problems for flights to Bali on June 17 and 18, 2025.

What did the government do?
The airport in Bali stayed open, but many flights could not fly because of the ash. Another airport, located closer to the volcano in Maumere, was closed for a time. The government raised the volcano alert level to the highest point. As a result, some people living very near the volcano had to evacuate for safety.
